{"id":20852,"date":"2013-04-24T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-04-24T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/global2020prd.wpengine.com\/insights\/people-and-strategy-revisiting-matrix-management\/"},"modified":"2025-12-08T16:13:29","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T16:13:29","slug":"people-and-strategy-revisiting-matrix-management","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.global-integration.com\/insights\/people-and-strategy-revisiting-matrix-management\/","title":{"rendered":"People and Strategy: Revisiting Matrix Management"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.global-integration.com\/blog\/people-strategy-revisiting-matrix-management\/people-and-strategy-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11396\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-11396\" src=\"https:\/\/www.global-integration.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/People-and-Strategy1.jpg\" alt=\"Image: &quot;People and strategy&quot; magazine cover\" width=\"190\" height=\"128\" \/><\/a>This month&#8217;s People and Strategy magazine took a good hard look at matrix management in it&#8217;s &#8216;Perspectives&#8217; section, calling on some of the brightest thinkers in the field to respond to an article by Global Integration&#8217;s CEO, Kevan Hall, based on his book, &#8220;<a title=\"MTMW\" href=\"https:\/\/www.global-integration.com\/matrix-management\/making-matrix-work-book\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Making the Matrix Work: How Matrix Managers Engage People and Cut Through Complexity<\/a>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Editor Ann Tavis, who co-ordinated the review, notes that Hall&#8217;s approach is pragmatic, focussing more on skills than structure to make things work.\u00a0Hall&#8217;s piece for People and Strategy summarises some of the ideas in his book, and looks at some of the big issues which arise in a matrix organization: being connected but being effective; the balance of trust and control; and clarity and alignment.<\/p>\n<p>These ideas are then expanded upon by a panel of leading thinkers assembled by Travis.<\/p>\n<p>Jay R.
